Our tech expert interview series, “Inspiring journeys”*, is designed to turn the spotlight on the remarkable stories of growth and achievement within the Randstad Digital team. Whether it’s career evolution, exceptional support for other colleagues, or outstanding contributions, this series aims to highlight key milestones and our tech specialists' significant impact on our projects and teams.
We reach the end of the first edition of this series, but not before finding out more about Mihai’s journey with Randstad Digital.
Mihai successfully took over the Tech Lead/ PO role in one of our automotive projects, actively and significantly contributing to the onboarding and training of new colleagues who joined the team.
Read the interview below to discover more about our colleague, and what helped him grow and develop.
please share with us about your experience, technologies, and areas of expertise.
My journey started in 2015 at an automotive company, where I joined a small team after a summer internship. I worked there for 1 year as a final-year student. After graduating from ULBS - Faculty of Engineering (Computer Science), I worked 2 more years as a C/C++ software developer on an automotive project.
In 2018, I received an offer from Randstad Digital Romania (Ausy Technologies Romania at the time). Even though the company was not known to me at that point, I accepted the challenge and I think it was the best decision I made because, during these 6 years of being here, I developed myself on multiple technologies, like Automation, Python, Linux, Robot Framework, Git, SQL.
how long have you been on our team? did/ do you have a mentor/ colleague who supported your growth?
I have been here since July 2018, so before joining the current automotive project at the end of 2020, I worked on projects for clients in both the avionics and heavy equipment domains. These experiences provided me with the starting point for developing most of my strongest skills but also with the opportunity to interact with more experienced people, whom I want to thank for all the support – Alexandru M. and Ovidiu M..
what challenges did you face in your project and how did you solve them?
I switched from a system engineer role to a technical lead and PO in a short time. Without having exercised people management before, but taking as examples the other leaders I interacted with during my career, I could identify the dos and don’ts and apply them; Marius S. provided the biggest support during the transition and afterward.
what are some of the achievements or contributions that you are most proud of in your project or team?
My team has excellent feedback from the customer; we are seen as a key part of the project and I like to think that my expertise, dedication, and support given to my colleagues also contribute to that.
what motivates you to keep going and growing?
The IT domain is continuously growing; new technologies are being released and I need to keep up with that.
we also want to discover what hobbies tech experts have. what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I have many hobbies and activities, but the most important are enduro riding, hiking, and DIY projects at home.
Concluding our “Inspiring journeys” interview, we cannot help but notice some similarities between what Mihai highlighted as important features of his career path and what all our interviewed colleagues mentioned: openness to new challenges, adaptability, and continuous learning.
Undeniably, a successful tech career alo requires, besides curiosity and openness to new challenges, a positive mindset when approaching and tackling the unknown. Last but not least, Mihai shows, through his insights, that to achieve success both in our careers and in our projects, we need to work together, relying on our colleagues and supporting each other.
Many thanks to Mihai for joining us in this series and sharing about his journey so far.
We congratulate him on his career evolution, but also for his readiness to take on new challenges and to support his team along the way.
